How It Works Classes & Calendar After BSLC About Us Enroll Volunteer & Donate Blog

Get a feel for BSLC.

The best way to understand BSLC is to spend some time here. Visits are relaxed and low-pressure. Ask questions, meet the community, and get a sense of life at the center.

What to Expect

1

A conversation with staff

You'll sit down with one or two staff members to talk about what your family is looking for, ask any questions you have, and learn more about how the center operates.

2

A tour of the space

We're located in a historic Revolutionary War hospital wing on the grounds of First Church and Parish, a Unitarian Universalist church founded in the 1600s. (We have no religious affiliation.) We'll show you our classrooms, common area, and makerspace. We'll even show you the depths of the basement, which we call the "labyrinth" for its many twists and turns. The music room is tucked away down there, too.

Because our space is located in a historic building, some areas are not fully wheelchair accessible. We are working to improve accessibility and welcome conversations with families about accomodations.

3

As much time as you like

After the tour, you're welcome to hang out, sit in on classes, and get a feel for the community. Stay for an hour or stay for the day.

Try Before You Commit

If you're interested after your first visit, we invite you to spend a full week at BSLC at no cost before applying. It's a chance to settle in, get to know the community, and make sure it feels like the right fit.
