It is hard to believe that just a year ago Bay State Learning Center didn't even have a name, it was still just an idea and some good advice from our friends at North Star Self-directed Learning Center.
We have come a long way, and we're finally ready to get things underway. We've got our space emptied out and the dreaded pink room will soon be painted. We're consumed with all of the many details that go into starting a thriving learening center. We have 20 students showing up on the 2nd of September and we want the space to be ready for them. Thursday and Friday are cleanup and painting days and several members of our community will be coming in to help moving us into our new home. That is part of what I love about self-directed learning centers like ours: they build community. Our members aren't just students showing up at a school, they take a direct interest in the center and already have a sense of ownership in BSLC.
Here are some pictures of our common room and main hallway as a blank canvas, soon we will be making it home.
